WCHM was pleased to see several recent announcements by Corrections Minister Shane Rattenbury that will improve the circumstances for women in Canberra’s jail.  WCHM has over many years worked with the Women And Prison (WAP) group to highlight issues such as the limited access to health programs and care; and the lack of options for education/training and for employment programs to aid in the rehabilitation of women prisoners.

And on Friday 20th October minister for corrections Shane Rattenbury also officially opened a bakery to give women access to qualifications, and which has been fully functional since last month. Read it here.
