Women’s Centre for Health Matters have been advocating for safe, affordable, accessible, appropriate housing for women throughout 2017. This includes participating in the Environment, Planning and Sustainable Development Directorate’s Affordable Housing consultation (now complete),  preparing for a submission to the ACT Legislative Assembly Standing Committee on Planning and Urban Renewal’s Inquiry into Housing (now discontinued), and the recently announced consultation by the Environment, Planning and Sustainable Development Directorate into Housing Choices (submissions due by 9 March 2018).

We will continue to work on a submission with ACT Shelter and other relevant community sector organisations in the ACT. Our aim is to ensure that there is a gendered understanding of the diversity of women’s housing needs and effective solutions.
