Invitation to participate in ACT Women’s Plan 2016-26 consultations

The following notice is from ACT Government’s Office for Women.

The ACT Government is striving to make the ACT the best place for a woman to live and is committed to ensuring the equal participation of women and girls in our society.

Vital to achieving this goal is the ACT Women’s Plan 2016-26; a comprehensive strategy involving a series of action plans to address key priority areas for improvement. We are developing the Second Action Plan 2020-22 to guide priorities and actions over the next three years.

To ensure the ACT Women’s Plan is on the right track, the Office for Women has engaged Kantar Public, an independent research agency, to conduct research into the current needs of women in the ACT.

We are interested in hearing your opinions and would like to invite you to attend a 1.5hr discussion group with Kantar Public. We are interested in hearing the views of a diverse group of women and particularly encourage women from the following cohorts to participate:

  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women
  • Culturally and Linguistically Diverse women
  • Women with disability
  • Professional women, especially women in business
  • Older women
  • Younger women

The focus groups will have 7 women in each at the following times and locations:

  • Wednesday 3 April 2019, from 5:30pm to 7:00pm (located in Civic)
  • Wednesday 3 April 2019, from 7:30pm to 9:00pm (located in Civic)
  • Thursday 4 April 2019, from 12:00pm to 1:30pm (located in Belconnen)
  • Thursday 4 April 2019, from 4:30pm to 6:00pm (located in Belconnen)
  • Thursday 4 April 2019, from 6:30pm to 8:00pm (located in Belconnen)

If you are available to attend please email women@act.gov.au  with details of which group you’d like to attend and if you represent any of the groups listed above, if so please specify as we are wanting to ensure good representation from these groups.

If you have any questions, please contact Ms Taz Katruss from the Office for Women on 6205 0303.  Please note that the number of spaces are limited, so please get in touch as soon as possible.

If you are selected to participate in one of the focus groups, you will be contacted by the Office for Women to confirm attendance and location details.

Participants to the focus groups will be given an $80 EFTPOS voucher as a thank you for your time.

Please note that the discussion will be recorded. The recording will be used exclusively by Kantar Public to ensure all opinions are being accurately captured. The recording will not be distributed to the Office for Women, and all feedback provided to the Office for Women will be de-identified and reported at a total level. If you would like to learn more about Kantar Public, you can visit their website here.

We appreciate you taking the time to speak with us on this important topic.

Kind regards,
