Second anniversary of Assistance Beyond Crisis

WCHM attended an event to mark the 2nd anniversary of the Assistance Beyond (ABC) Crisis Micro Loan program, and to celebrate this community-led and funded program in Canberra which has already helped more than 35 women and 70 children with interest-free loans after leaving domestic violence situations.

A panel discussion was held on the night which included hearing from a woman about her lived experience, and which gave an understanding how this program relieves the pressure for women in the most stressful circumstances.

The event also focused on the importance of the workplace – as it is often the first place to pick up changes within a staff member though absenteeism and behaviour, and it’s important that Human Resource teams and or managers know about services like this that could help someone leaving a domestic or family violence situation.
