Women’s Centre for Health Matters recent report “This is what the real experience is like…” The views of same sex attracted women in the ACT about their health; their health needs; their access to services, supports, and information; and the barriers to maintain their health, is based on the views of 359 same sex attracted ACT women (including both cis and trans women). This work was conducted to compliment previous reports on the experiences of health and health needs of ACT women and shows that health and health service access is both similar and different for same sex attracted women. The research explores issues such as sexual health including STIs and cervical screening, alcohol, tobacco and drug use and experiences of violence and anti-LGBTIQ behaviour and shows that same sex attracted women may experience non-inclusive services and worry about discrimination.
