WCHM has attended the following recent consultations to ensure they pick up the needs of ACT women.
ACT Regional Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Plan Forum – ACT Health and the Capital Health Network (ACT PHN) are developing an ACT Regional Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Plan, to align with the Fifth National Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Plan. As part of the process of developing a Regional Plan, CHN and ACT Health convened a Regional Plan Consultation Forum which focussed on consumer and carer experiences of the mental health sector in the ACT. Two WCHM staff attended the forum with over 80 stakeholders provide input in to identifying opportunities for reform, and I areas of interest to WCHM including postnatal depression in new mothers, and BPD. It is hoped that the ideas generated at the Forum will provide a starting point to shape changes in the mental health responses across the ACT, in conjunction with the new ACT Office for Mental Health and Wellbeing. Family Safety Hub workshop
WCHM participated in a workshop with the ACT Family Safety Hub to provide input to further aspects of work on a ‘challenge’ about early intervention support for pregnant women and new parents, the focus of the workshop was about ways to destigmatise help-seeking for pregnant women/couples whose relationships have changed and may be at risk of experiencing or using violence. National Plan to Reduce Violence against Women and their Children 2010-2022 – ACT Consultation on the Fourth Action Plan 2019-2022 – WCHM attended a second joint ACT/Commonwealth Government consultation on the development of the Fourth Action Plan 2019-2022 of the National Plan to Reduce Violence against Women and their Children 2010-2022 (the National Plan). The consultation focussed on ACT input about key priority groups including children, CALD women, The Fourth Action Plan, due for release in 2019, is the final action plan of the National Plan.
