Welcome to WCHM’s August 2019 newsletter. Winter is almost over and August has been yet another busy month for WCHM staff.  In this month’s newsletter you can read about the release of our latest new social research report – This is what the real experience is like…”– , and the release of our new website – ACTeenChoices – which focusses on providing local reliable sexual and reproductive health information for young ACT women (and their families and friends). You can also read about the media coverage that WCHM has received during the month and the events held during August.

This year’s Women’s Health Week is on from 2nd – 6th September, and we invite you to join us to celebrate at our event on 5 September, where MLA Tara Cheyne will share her story about the importance for women of accessing health information and help us launch WCHM’s ACT Women’s health Hub – and all attendees will receive a Jean Hailes women’s health information gift bag. Find out more below, and let us know ASAP if you would like to join us.

We celebrated Women’s Health Week early with the women in the AMC, with an art exhibit showcasing art work made by the women with the theme chosen by them, ‘My health and wellbeing-what brings me peace’.

And during the five days of Women’s Health Week we will be sharing information on some key women’s health themes from Jean Hailes on our Facebook page and website.

You can also read about 2 new consultation surveys which we have released:

  • If you are an ACT woman over 55 then we hope you complete the survey which will help us understand the health and wellbeing needs of older women in the ACT.
  • And WCHM is keen to hear from ACT women about whether recent changes to bus routes and bus stops have affected their feelings of safety at the bus stops they use.

Please help us by sharing these surveys with other women you know.

We hope you enjoy reading this month’s newsletter, don’t forget that WCHM is also on Facebook, make sure to see whats happening with WCHM there.
