Changes to bus stops and bus routes: we are seeking your input where these changes have impacted on your perceptions of safety when using the bus stops

WCHM has heard that for many women in the ACT, the recent changes to ACT’s bus routes have resulted in changes to their nearest bus stops because of revised routes and the closure of some bus stops.

Launch of new WCHM report

At an event on 19th August WCHM, and our partner AIDS Action Council, was proud to release our newest report “This is what the real experience is like…” The views of same sex attracted women in the ACT about their health; their health needs; their access to services, supports, and information; and the barriers to maintain their health.Read more

Second anniversary of Assistance Beyond Crisis  

WCHM attended an event to mark the 2nd anniversary of the Assistance Beyond (ABC) Crisis Micro Loan program, and to celebrate this community-led and funded program in Canberra which has already helped more than 35 women and 70 children with interest-free loans after leaving domestic violence situations.

Domestic and Family Violence

On Friday 9 August 2019, the Council of Australian Governments endorsed and released the Fourth Action Plan of the National Plan to Reduce Violence against Women and their Children 2010-2022, agreeing on five national priorities to reduce family, domestic and sexual violence. Find the plan here.
