This companion report represents the views of the 39 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women who responded to the WCHM Health and Wellbeing Information Survey 2009 (who comprised 6percent of the total survey sample) and the views of a further ten Aboriginal women who participated in a focus group discussion. The greatest challenge for many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women is overcoming the barriers, financial and otherwise, that limit the information sources they can access. Not being able to access a spectrum of information from a variety of sources can limit the extent to which women can make informed decision about their health. It is WCHM’s hope that these companion reports will improve understanding of particular groups of women in the ACT in order to facilitate health and wellbeing information provision that is responsive to their needs.
