February is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month. “Every day in Australia, four women are diagnosed with ovarian cancer and three will die from the disease. Ovarian cancer has the lowest survival rate of any women’s cancer – a fact that hasn’t changed in 30 years” ( Ovarian Cancer Australia). A cervical screening test (formally known as a pap smear) does not detect ovarian cancer, and there is no effective screening test or preventative vaccine for ovarian cancer. So the best way of detecting the disease is to know the signs and symptoms – so find out more about this disease here!
