This year’s Women’s Health Week is on from 2nd – 6th September. The theme for the week is ‘Plant the seeds of good health’. WCHM knows from our research with ACT women that an important aspect of good health is the importance of having and accessing reliable information and resources about health and wellbeing for women.
To celebrate this theme, you are invited to an event here at WCHM on Thursday 5 September from 5.30 – 6.30 pm where Tara Cheyne MLA will join us to share her story about the importance of good health and wellbeing information. She will also launch WCHM’s new website – the ACT Women’s Health Hub which will provide a central place that will link ACT women to already-existing, credible and trustworthy information about health, wellbeing and services and supports.
At the forum, WCHM will also showcase two new pieces of work:
- our newest report, This is what the real experience is like… , which documents the views of same sex attracted women in the ACT about their health; their health needs; their access to services, supports, and information; and the barriers to maintaining their health; and
- our recently released website www.ACTeenChoices.org.au which was created by WCHM in partnership with Sexual Health and Family Planning ACT, and which aims to provide young women (and their families and friends) with reliable and appropriate sexual and reproductive health information.
